One of the common causes of severe pain can be neuropathic pain, while which suffer nervous system. Its prevalence in the population reaches 1.5%, with the high severity that is why it is a topical problem of modern medicine. The development of this pain may be caused by a lesion and dysfunction of the peripheral or central nervous system. These are afferents of the peripheral nerves, sensory neurons of dorsal ganglia, dorsal horn nociceptive interneurons of spinal cord and sensitive nucleus of cranial nerves, afferents of the nociceptive system stem and cerebral cortex.

Neuropathic pain is diagnosed while polyneuropathies, such as diabetic, toxic, from the effects of local vibration, and while mononeuropathies and pleksopathies of various origins, phantom pain syndrome, radiculopathy, postherpetic neuralgia, facial neuralgia, spinal cord lesions, such as myelopathy, syringomyelia, neoplasms, while demyelinating diseases , acute disorders of cerebral circulation with the development of post-stroke pain.

Clinically, among symptoms of neuropathic pain can be named spontaneous pain, dysesthesia and paresthesia, allodynia, hyperalgesia and giperpatiya. Thus, chronic neuropathic pain requires treatment directed actions in the light of modern ideas about the mechanisms of its development and includes the following:relief of peripheral sources of ectopic impulses in the diseased nerve fibers, control of nociceptive afferent additional centers in the structures of the locomotor system, restoration of central inhibition and suppression of pathological activity of aggregates of hyperactive neurons, blockade of nociceptive flows at the level of the segmental and suprasegmentar relay stations by increasing the activity of the antinociceptive system and correction of the emotional and affective reactions and behaviors.

The main means of chronic neuropathic pain treatment includes antidepressants, anticonvulsants, antiarrhythmics and local anesthetics. In connection with this, in the treatment of chronic neuropathic pain are important non-drug therapies. Currently, the signs of neuropathic pain can be treated with the help of massage, physiotherapy, physiotherapy, biofeedback, and various forms and methods of psychological treatment, autogenic training, respiratory-relaxation training.
